ABOUT CARA

Cara Jepsen has been publishing her writing since junior high school and teaching yoga since 1998. Her byline has appeared in The (UK) Guardian, Salon, Brink.com, Billboard, Book, Chicago Magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, NewCity, and Crain’s Chicago Business. She's the media columnist for the Illinois Entertainer, and for eight years she wrote the Chicago Reader's Days of the Week Calendar. She also contributed chapters to DK's Real City Chicago guide and to SPIN Underground USA.

Her radio essays air on the WBEZ-FM program Eight Forty-Eight, and she's a yoga columnist for Conscious Choice magazine. Her India diaries, restaurant reviews and cartoon, "On the Mat," appear in Yoga Chicago magazine.

She holds a B.A. in sociology and communications from Lake Forest College and a Master's Degree in journalism from Columbia College.

She divides her time between Chicago and India.

Cara teaches all levels of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Dharma Mittra Yoga (a classical hatha style) and vinyasa flow. She is available for private and workplace lessons, and teaches regularly at the Chicago Yoga Center, YogaNow,Yoga Trek Center and area health clubs. Click here for her schedule.
